LEAD INTERIOR DESIGNER

Location: Des Moines, Iowa

Type: Full-time

Compensation: Base salary (based on experience) + commission incentive

Available to start February 2025


Liz Lidgett Gallery and Design is looking for a highly creative and experienced Lead Interior Designer to spearhead the launch of our new Interior Design service. This role is a unique opportunity to help define and build a signature design service that fuses art and interior aesthetics. As the Lead Interior Designer, you will work closely with our team, clients, and artists to provide custom design solutions that seamlessly integrate fine art into personalized interior spaces.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Service Development: Design and implement a tailored interior design service offering that integrates artwork into client spaces, primarily residential. Create packages and options based on client needs and art preferences.
  • Client Consultation: Lead design consultations (both in-person and virtually) with clients to understand their vision, lifestyle and aesthetic preferences. Offer expert advice on selecting and incorporating art, furnishings, and decor that complement the artwork and overall space.
  • Project Management: Oversee the interior design process from concept through execution, ensuring designs are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standard.
  • Collaboration with Artists and Vendors: Work closely with our represented artists and external vendors to source furniture, textiles, lighting and other design elements that align with each project’s aesthetic.
  • Brand Ambassador: Represent the gallery’s values and vision, using your expertise to build the reputation of our new interior design service.
  • Marketing & Sales Support: Collaborate with the marketing team to promote the new service through events, social media and client outreach. Assist with sales strategies and customer engagement to grow the service’s client base.


REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS


  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in interior design, with a strong portfolio showcasing residential design work.
  • An appreciation for original art, with a keen understanding of how to seamlessly integrate artwork into design concepts, elevating the originality and character of a space.
  • Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar tools.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with clients, artists, and vendors.
  • Experience working with design projects incorporating original art.
  • A creative and innovative mindset with a keen eye for detail.
  • Need access to a car.
  • Must be able to lift 50lbs.
