Color Study: Pink

In honor of Valentine's Day this weekend, our very own Aly Jensen rounded up some of her favorite pink works for a color study. -LL

I have told myself for years that I don’t like pink, but the truth is, I have been lying to myself. I love the fact that there are so many variations of this one color and that each variation can say a little something different. Hot and bright pinks add energy and playfulness to whatever they adorn, while a soft blush pink adds a comforting femininity that can be both soothing and gentile. Pink takes the passion and vigor of red and soothes it to a playful, excited energy rather than one with assumed movement. It has the power to both excite the senses and soothe them depending on the tone and hue. A little more blue or white and the pink is soothing and comforting, but a little more orange or red and the pink is energizing. Here's my top pink picks currently at the gallery—enjoy! -Aly
