I don't know about you, but in my house the olympics were on all day and night and we were able to witness some really awesome historical moments. After being able to get to know the olympians briefly through the screen I feel moderately confident that I can pair them with an amazing artist of ours based on their on screen personality.
Nathan's hard work paid off this year winning him a gold medal and a score that was record breaking and left the crowd breathless. I chose
Christina Flowers' Summer Moon 2
because the piece speaks grace and elegance as well as a hint of playful youthfulness. He is an absolute professional and the distinct lines in
Chistina's piece speak into that. The arch through the middle of the piece gives it movement and grace which reflects the gorgeous lines Nathan was able to create in his Olympic routines.
Jessie seems to be easy going and subtle, but is, without a doubt, a trail blazing star. This year she won the silver medal in the 30 kilometer freestyle and the bronze medal in the individual sprint which made her the most decorated American cross-country skier of all-time. I chose to pair her with
Racheal Jackson's
Rituals 4
for many reasons. If you watched our Instagram Live where
Liz talked to Racheal
about her collection with us you will remember that she talked about the inspiration behind the series being the ritual of repetition in daily life. If anyone understand the love (and need) for repetition it is an olympian. This piece spoke to me in particular because of the subtly in the color - smooth and well thought out while still being a bold statement - sounds a lot like Jessie.
Makiko Harris'
work is bold and energetic just like Chloe Kim. Her bubbly energy and exuberant excitement for her sport is the same energy that Makiko put into this incredible piece.
Water Library has enough blues to tickle the fancy of any winter lover, but her energetic textures are anything but frozen.
Kaillie has such a sharp and bright wit that absolutely screamed
Laurie Lindqvist. This pairing was a no brainer. Lauries sharp lines and bright colors match the beautifully colorful bobsled career.
Joy 1 is my new favorite piece by Laurie (this changes every time I see new pieces by her, but here we are) and this beauty absolutely screamed Kaillies name- the strong colors and sharp lines in contract with the bright and beautiful colors are a goof reflection of the beauty and hardship of her career.
These amazing athletes are not current clients of ours, but we can dream!
