Makiko Harris (b. 1989) is a multimedia artist who explores themes of hybridity, gender, identity, and power. With a background in feminist philosophy, color, and music, her work uses sound, painting, sculpture, and installation to imagine new worlds where corporeal knowledge and feminine power might be dominant. Originally from San Francisco, CA, Harris currently lives and works in London, UK and is on the Contemporary Art Practice MA course at the Royal College of Art (2023). She earned her BA in Philosophy and Studio Art at Tufts University in Boston, MA (2011). Her work has been exhibited and collected internationally, has been licensed in collaborations including San Francisco Symphony’s 21-22 campaign, and has been featured at the Tate Modern in London, UK.
