As with all businesses, big and small, our gallery has been working diligently to adapt to the time at hand. For the first time ever, our show opening will be virtual. What exactly does this mean, you may ask? Well, as much as we want to see your smiling faces, give you hugs, and welcome you with open arms to the gallery—it’s just not the safe thing to do. But, as they say, the show must go on, and we’re thrilled to create a virtual showroom on our website for the Taelor Fisher and Marcy Cook collaborative show, Where Healing Lies.

Along with a dedicated virtual gallery on the site, we will be going live on our Instagram page with the artists at noon central while they are safe at home in their studios. We’ll be talking about their processes, their inspiration, and about the work that has been created for the show. Additionally, we're sharing an IGTV video with Taelor in her studio giving a quick "art tutorial" so you can better connect with her as an artist.

The show name, Where Healing Lies, spoke to me after seeing the name of one of Marcy’s pieces. Art can be a healing balm for so many different ailments and has the added double-meaning of the literal healing that needs to take place during this pandemic.

Taelor and Marcy’s work flow so beautifully together as they both have an element of newly interpreted botanicals. Taelor’s paintings are reminiscent of quilt work that weaves together pattern play, the built environment and florals. Marcy’s former profession as a florist is clear with her bold collage work that brings together a number of sources to create floral bouquets that you can’t believe aren’t photographs. Together their cohesion and looks belong in the same collection, apart each work is beautiful and a standout.

“Adapt” and “pivot” are going to be words for the year 2020 and we have tried to do just that to bring you this virtual show. Marcy and Taelor’s work deserves to be seen and adored and we will be doing our best to make sure that happens in-person show or not.

As always, please let us know if you’d like to be on the pre-sale list at hello@lizlidgett.com or have interest in any specific pieces. Thank you, as always, and we hope you’ll engage with our new online offerings.
